Bachelor 2018, Rahel Goetsch
Visitors to public swimming pools are familiar with the announcements made near closing time, which generally comes at 7:30 p.m.; these served as fodder for this project’s title. Rahel Goetsch incorporated drawings and ceramics to explore outdoor swimming pool as public spaces. This work combined direct recordings and analysis of poolside experiences at “closing time” as well as the subsequent processing and further development of this visual input. In combination, the work making up this project creates new narratives and reproduces the various facets and components of Berlin’s outdoor swimming landscape.
