Blazenburg, A variable typeface

Supervisors: Matthias Hübner, Wim Westerveld

Nearly two years after the completion of the first draft, the Blazenburg font family, which comes in nine styles, was finally finished. The basic underlying principle was to create fonts that would appear relatively neutral and classically proportioned in body texts, but which would reveal more details and character in larger type sizes, so that they could be used for a range of purposes. Benn Zorn, a.k.a. Benjamin Blazy, also wanted to explore how “skinny”or “fat” the fonts could become while retaining a resilient type skeleton.
