The unspoken motto of “Berufsfeld Community” is “We have to talk.” As part of this participatory research project on community-oriented work in German-speaking Switzerland, Anna Bierler designed and produced an app as well as a printed publication (a brochure and a bundle of loose worksheets on which people were asked to provide their comments on a statement). This publication format examines forms of textual work within the context of joint research. Various participants were called upon to evaluate and react to textual material such as interview excerpts or observations and given the opportunity to compile their own collection of texts, deciding for themselves which texts they wanted to work with. To facilitate further editorial processing of the newly created textual material, Anna designed an app that enables flexible handling of the texts and provides a means of structuring the collected content. This way of working on texts is intended to facilitate related discussions and networking among members of the professional community of graphic designers.
