Winter 2017/18, Revisited: die Sammlung der Kunstbibliothek Berlin
Students: Madeleine Stöber, Sarah Schögler, Anastasia Voloshina, Kristina Bekker, Aron Bence
The archive of The Berlin Art Library is home to a wealth of carefully preserved historical gems: maps, books, ornamental engravings, type specimens, posters, and even costumes. These are creative works from earlier times, the products of old techniques driven by past trends that still hold a great deal of inspirational potential. The aim of this project was to design a proposal for reappraising and ensuring the accessibility of the Berlin Art Library’s collection. The students explored the archive, developed proposals for order systems, and explored various media options – both digital (an app, multi-touch screens, a website, digital exhibition guides) and analog – for adequately representing the richness of the collection while making it easily accessible for any and all interested parties.
