Crossart: from Van Gogh to Beuys

Masterpieces of Modern Art from Ten German and Dutch Museums

Clients: Lenkungskreis Crossart Route-Moderne-Kunst (2004–2010) and Museum Schloss Moyland, DE & NL

Project: Exhibition catalog

Year: Released in 2005

This catalog features masterpieces of modern and contemporary art from ten major museums located near the border between Germany and the Netherlands. It was released to accompany an exhibition of works by significant artists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries shown at the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn. The curator Jean-Christophe Ammann decided to bring works from different museums together in separate rooms to create surprising juxtapositions or confrontations. My objective was to translate the concept of the exhibition as a linear experience into a book. The catalog gives a great deal of room to photographs of exhibition spaces in the participating museums, most of which are marked by an intriguing relationship between natural and exhibition spaces. The catalog was released in a Dutch/German as well as an English/French edition.
